Week 6- Roles of Universities & Sustainable Development

This is our 6 weeks of class. As usual before beginning of the class, we will recite Surah Al-Fatihah then Prof Suhaimi will read the meaning of that surah. 

      On 12 April 2023, we learned about Roles of Universities and Sustainable Development. At the beginning of the class, Prof Suhaimi divided us into several groups to discuss a few questions and my group was assigned to give opinion and answers to the third question “Do you think you are being educated to be a balanced person or being prepared for job’s employability?” 



     In my opinion,Yes, I agree that being educated is another step toward a balanced person. This is because throughout my learning, I gain many skills, knowledge and experience which help me both in my career and in life in general. Education is an influential step in staying competitive and enhancing our skills. Whether we’re starting out in our career or returning to continue to build upon our years of experience, pursuing educational training helps me to keep moving forward.  In a classroom setting, I have the opportunity to interact and meet with fellow students who may come from a variety of professional backgrounds. 

     On top of that, by gaining additional skills in communication and problem solving and achieving my goals, I can also increase my confidence. Studies have shown that greater confidence leads to greater career advancement because there’s a strong correlation between confidence and success. These so-called “soft skills” include strong abilities in areas like communication, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving. Each of these talents can add value to our organisation, wherever we are. And, such skills can give us the experience to be prepared and equipped to take that next step toward achieving our goals.To grow in our career, we’ve got to put in the work to deepen your knowledge, gain skills and develop a network that will help you take that next step toward where you want to be.

17 May 2023     As per Prof Dr Suhaimi has informed us, on 17 May 2023 we will be having a mid term test which covers from topic week 1 to week 9 and the percentage for this test was 15%. Before start the quiz, Dr has provided us the google link form to answers the question. There are about 55 questions provided with 53 multiple choice questions and the rest were short answers. One of the short questions was asked to describe our sustainable group project. My group members have decided to choose “Declutter and Save Storage For Used Clothes in IIUM Gombak” for our project. Week 8 - Roles of Institutions for Sustainable Development

 3 May 2023  Today's topic is mainly focused on two SDGs which are SDG 16 and SDG 17. Goal 16 is about promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, providing access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. People everywhere should be free of fear from all forms of violence and feel safe as they go about their lives whatever their ethnicity, faith or sexual orientation.  High levels of armed violence and insecurity have a destructive impact on a country’s development. Sexual violence, crime, exploitation and torture are prevalent where there is conflict or no rule of law. Governments, civil society and communities need to work together to find lasting solutions to conflict and insecurity. Week 7- Challenges to Sustainable Development

19 April 2023 Today’s class Prof Dr Suhaimi asked us to watch a recorded lecture and write comments based on that video.After I watched the lecture, I have learned about three important figures of challenges to sustainability development which are economic, social and environmental that give big impact in our lives. These 3 aspects have their own challenges that we should cater to and look into to provide a better future for our next generations. There are 4 general challenges that give inequalities to those less fortunate in terms of educational resources, health facilities, food and clean water.
